NE-YO Welcomes Son Shaffer Chimere Jr.

Newlyweds with a newborn!

Three weeks after tying the knot, NE-YO and his bride Crystal Renay Smith welcomed their first child together on Tuesday, March 15, the new mom confirmed via social media.

“Prince Shaffer Chimere Smith Jr has arrived! 6lbs 8oz, 19 inches,” she captioned an Instagram photo of herself holding her newborns hand.

“It was the scariest delivery ever and I ended up getting a emergency c-section cause of complications but with the help of my amazing doctor Sheryl Ross and my super calming husband NE-YO I was able to get through it all and come out with best reward in the world… SJ!!!!! #BestDayOfMyLife”

Earlier in the week, she had shared a picture of her husband, né Shaffer Smith, kissing her baby bump. “I began this journey with you and here we are at the finish line stronger than ever TOGETHER! I feel so blessed and frightened at the same time but I know that God and you have my back. I can look to you for strength when I feel mine failing and know that in you I’ll find me,” she captioned the image.
“My family, friends and sincere supporters know how monumental tonight is for me and I thank you all for being there for me and loving me unconditionally through my process. I couldn’t have made it through without you. #SJOnTheWay #MiddleOfMarch #neyo #CrystalRenay #BabySmith #TonightIsTheNight”

The couple made a simultaneous reveal in August, when NE-YO took to Twitter to announce that not only were the pair expecting a baby, but they were also engaged.
“Clearing the air..@mscrystalrenay and I are ENGAGED to be married next year. And yes we are expecting #FromTheHorsesMouth,” the singer, already dad to son Mason Evan, 4, and daughter Madilyn Grace, 5, tweeted.

The model mom-to-be managed to pull off planning a wedding while pregnant and the two were married during an oceanside ceremony on Feb. 20 in Los Angeles.

Prior to the special day, Crystal joked her baby bump had her nervous to walk down the aisle. “I’m gonna be honest: I’m nine months pregnant — I’m nervous about falling on my face,” she said.

Following their nuptials, the R&B singer told PEOPLE, “We can’t wait to start our life together. We’re looking forward to just being each other’s best friend.”
