Five Distinguished Driving Accessories

Once you have the car of your dreams, you need the proper driving accessories—from shoes to sunglasses—to enhance your behind-the-wheel style and comfort. The following items are designed to improve the driving experience, or at least help you look as sleek as the car you covet.

The new Bugatti Super Sport Sapphire is the latest model in Parmigiani Fleurier’s Bugatti Super Sport series. The rose-gold mechanical watch ($545,000) houses a two-barrel manual movement with a 10-day power reserve and is appointed with an Hermès alligator strap. Due to the movement’s diagonal placement, the hour display was rotated 90 degrees—an adjustment that was achieved with a bevel-gearing system adopted from the automotive world. The prestigious Swiss watchmaker and the sports luxury marque introduced the first Bugatti Super Sport watch in 2010, in celebration of the record-breaking Veyron 16.4 Super Sport.

Salvatore Ferragamo has upgraded the classic driver’s shoe with its python Gancio moccasin. The exotic-skin loafers, starting at $960, are available in a range of colors and feature hand-stitched detailing and signature metal hardware. The shoe’s strong yet flexible sole and heel are covered with a geometric rubber pattern for improved grip.

On the 40th anniversary of the launch of its sunglasses, Porsche Design has re-created one of the most successful models from its original collection, the P’8479 ($340). The stylish, retro unisex model was created specifically for driving: The thin titanium frame provides an unobstructed peripheral view, polarized polycarbonate lenses reduce glare from sunrays or headlights, and the curve of the lenses extends sun protection to the temples.

A pair of good driving gloves not only helps keep the steering wheel spotless but also enhances the driver’s dexterity—not to mention adds a stylish flair to any ensemble. The quintessential British brand Dunhill, which has furnished drivers since the automobile first hit the roads, offers a classic unlined driving glove ($385) in supple lambskin leather or suede. The cutouts at the knuckles and the back of the hand provide flexibility and ventilation for added comfort.

For a refined version of the standard leather jacket—so often associated with a day on the road—Hermès offers a lambskin-leather jacket ($12,900) in a relaxed silhouette with two welt pockets and a zippered sleeve pocket. The minimalist exterior is paired with a bold silk-screened rose design on the inside.
