Golden Globes 2016: Johnny Depp, Taraji P. Henson and Kaley Cuoco at Pre-Award Parties

It’s that time of year again! On Saturday, January 9, Hollywood’s biggest names in television and film came out in droves to celebrate the 2016 Golden Globes — and the start of awards season — in several star-studded pre-show parties throughout the city.

Us Weekly was there to catch it all! Read on for some of the biggest moments from the night before the award show, and check back on Sunday night for full coverage of the 73rd Annual Golden Globes, hosted by Ricky Gervais.

— Johnny Depp and Amber Heard looked stunning at the Art of Elysium Heaven Gala, holding hands on the red carpet and during the event, whispering to one another from time to time. Also in attendance? Ed Westwick — who ran into Michelle Trachtenberg for a brief Gossip Girl reunion — as well as James Franco, Kaley Cuoco, Justin Bartha, and Rumer Willis.

— Best TV Actress nominee Taraji P. Henson was in a great mood hosting BET’s Celebration of Gospel, uplifting the audience and encouraging them to start the year with “a little more love, a little more hope, a little more joy, a little more compassion!”

— Madonna and ex-husband Sean Penn shared a little verbal PDA at Penn’s annual fundraiser gala for Haiti. The “Rebel Heart” singer even said at one point, “Sean, I love you. From the moment that I laid eyes on you. And I still love you, just the same. I just wish you would stop smoking so many cigarettes.”

— Jason Segal looked super happy on the red carpet with girlfriend Alexis Mixter at Penn’s gala fundraiser, and the couple hung out with Emile Hirsch during the event, sipping on sparkling water and lime.

— Orange Is the New Black’s Uzo Aduba, who's nominated as Best Supporting Actress in a Series, told Us that her sister Chi Chi will be her date to the Globes on Sunday. “I stand here on the shoulders of a lot of people who supported me to come into this moment,” she said at the Film Independent Spirit Awards Nominees brunch.
