BMW’s i8 Spyder Concept Car

BMW blew away car enthusiasts this past week when they unveiled their latest creation based on the i8 Spyder concept car. For starters, this beauty features a topless design with a two tier interactive digital dash that controls and displays almost all the functions of the car. The top tier dash is 21 inches and stretches from the passenger all the way over to the driver. Impressively both the upper and lower digital dash can interact with smart watches, an app for a smart phones, and even a BMW designed smart mirror. The dash uses a sci-fi inspired system that works with the point of a finger rather than the touch of one to select an option.

Through a smart watch the owner of an autonomous model can park the car and summon it without even being inside the vehicle. Although self parking cars might seem like old news, the ability to control your car with your watch or your phone definitely brings the wow factor to this engineering feat.

As previously mentioned, there are a number of ways you can interact with your car remotely. Through the BMW smart mirror the owner of one of these cars can gather information about their car, anything the owner of a car might want to know such as the amount of gas in the tank to when the vehicle will require an oil change, and most importantly, GPS tracking.

While this luxury car is one you’ll want to keep your eye on in the near future, BMW definitely needs to go back and rethink the name, because it’s a mouthful! The i Vision Future Interactive Concept is without a doubt an incredible machine, but the car’s name doesn’t do it justice. If BMW spends just a few thousand more on this vehicle, I’m sure they’ll come up with much better branding.
