Fragrance Company Suing Jay Z
Do you remember "Gold" cologne? If you're like me, you probably bought some for your dad, your brothers, and all the males in your family because Jay Z was attached to it and it smelled pretty decent. If you're familiar with "Gold" and its short-lived promotion, you will be shocked to know that Parlux Fragrances is suing Jigga Man for not living up to his end of their business agreement.
Parlux, the cologne's manufacturer, says that Jay Z hasn't been promoting "Gold," which launched in 2013. In a new lawsuit, the company says they had an agreement with Jay, which included using his name and image to promote the product, but Jay hasn't posted on social media or made any promotional appearances. They say he even refused to appear on 'GMA,' at Macy's and in Women's Wear Daily to promote. Because of Jay's lack of backing, "Gold" sales are severely lacking.
Furthermore, by now there were supposed to be a number of follow-up fragrances but Parlux says that Jay Z has been flaking out on meetings, so there has been no progress. Instead of the $50 million the company thought they would have brought in by now, they've actually lost money, so the fragrance manufacture is taking the mogul to court. Parlux Fragrances is asking for $18 million in damages.
Currently Jay backs TIDAL, Dusse & a number of other brands. Do you think he dropped the ball in the fragrance department?
