New & Reoccuring Shows To Look Out For In 2016


From reality shows to sitcoms, the world of television is forever thriving. There is not one show on TV right now that isn't worth watching. During the summer of 2015, we had jaw-dropping shows like "Power", "Tyler Perry's: The Haves and the Have Nots", and even more--the list goes on. With the amount of suspense in each and every episode, many people are still anticipating what's next--and fortunately, you won't have to wait much longer.
As the new year is quickly approaching, there are a lot of great shows to look out for in the upcoming year. Just to name a few, I've gathered a list of popular new and reoccurring shows that we've all been waiting for. Check it out below.


Hit The Floor - Hit The Floor made it's debut in May of 2013, and became one of the most watched shows on VH1. The drama series follows Ahsha Hayes (Taylour Paige) who joins a NBA cheer-leading team--the Los Angeles Devil Girls. As Ahsha indulges on her new journey, she is hit with mind-blowing secrets and the treacherous world that comes with her new lifestyle. After two successful seasons, the series is now back with a third season--which is set to premiere on January 18th, 2016.


Empire  - Cookie and Lucious Lyon were introduced to the world on January 7th, 2015, and ever since they've been blowing up the charts. While grossing over 15 million views, Empire has become one of the most talked about shows on FOX since it first debuted. The drama series focuses on The Lyon Family, and their fight for domination over the family's hip-hop/R&B record label, Empire Entertainment. While bringing the darkest and dirtiest secrets to light, the show offers suspense, drama, and a sense of comedy as it focuses on real-life situations. The second installment of season two will premiere on March 20th, 2016.


Pretty Little Liars  -  Even the prettiest girls tell the ugliest lies. Based on the popular book series, Pretty Little Liars is an american teen drama thriller series set in a small town called Rosewood. The thriller series centers around the lives of four girls and their close-knit clique. After the disappearance of their leader (Alison DiLaurentis), the girls went their separate ways, but finally reunited a year later. As betrayal prevails, and secrets began to unravel, the girls realize that there is more to the disappearance of their dear friend than they initially believed. The new season is set for January 12th, 2016 on Freeform--formally known as ABC Family.


Power - Created and produced by Courtney Kemp Agboh and Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Power has been a successful show on Starz network for two seasons now. The show centers around businessman and club owner, James "Ghost" St. Patrick and his illegal lifestyle in one of New York's biggest drug trade rings. Although James has been in the game for a while, he comes to realize that he is ready to throw in the towel for not only himself, but his wife and his kids. But as he reveals his need to pull away from the drug business, Tasha--his wife and the ultimate 'ride or die' chick, disagrees. He tries to wiggle his way out, but things seem to get worst--and he's pulled back into a never-ending cycle. Along the way, James reconnects with an old friend, his high-school sweetheart Angela Valdez. Things then began quickly shift as James and Angela becomes intimate. But what Angela doesn't know is James's illegal lifestyle. As the affair progresses, the duo's biggest secrets began to unravel--and let's just say James isn't the only one with a few skeletons. The third season is set to premiere in June, 2016, but an official date hasn't been released yet.


Tyler Perry's The Have And the Have Nots - From the plays, to the movies, to now prime time soap, Tyler Perry never disappoints. Making its debut in May of 2013 on OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network), The Haves And the Have Nots is one of the first African-American soap operas. The prime time soap is based around three families in Savannah, GA: The Cryers and Harrington families who are rich and powerful among the law and public community in Savannah, and Hanna--of the Young family, who serves as a maid to the Cryers. Hanna Young is an average, everyday woman working hard to provide for herself and her household. Although Young is a woman of God she still have problems of her own. After working for the Cryers for quite sometime, she then finds that her out of control daughter, Candace, has indulged in prostitution--and Mr. Cryer (the husband) so happens to be her client. Throughout the show, more drama arises and the three families are faced with more troubles and even deeper levels of deception. The Haves And the Have Nots will be returning on January 5th, 2016.


Fuller House - I'm quite sure just about all of you grew up watching Full House. If you didn't, well I did. After capturing the attention of many when it first aired back in 1987, the Full House cast is back to give us an even 'fuller' house. After developing the project for a little over a year now, the cast has officially wrapped up taping for their newest spin-off called, "Fuller House". The 13-episode series will premiere on Netflix, and is centered around the life of all grown up widowed mother and veterinarian D.J. Tanner-Fuller. The series will be coming to Netflix in 2016, but no official release date has been given.


The Real Housewives of Potomac - From California, to Georgia, the Real Housewives franchise is now heading to the hills of Potomac, Maryland. The Real Housewives of Potomac follows the lives of six beautiful, intelligent, and sophisticated women who are all about their coins and never afraid to speak their mind. The cast includes: Ashley Darby, Charrisse Jordan, Karen Huger, Katie Rost, Gizelle Bryant, and Robyn Dixon. Although the ladies of the Potomac community are known for their wealth, fine wine, and class, these six ladies makes it very clear that even within the classiest women, lies a bit of hood. The reality show will be making it's debut on Bravo TV January 17th, 2016.


Mob Wives - After five seasons, Mob Wives are back with their sixth and final season. The reality show first aired in 2011, while delivering nothing but rawness--and showing us that Staten Island girls are definitely not to be f*cked with. The show demonstrates the lives of a group of NY women who are battling with the imprisonment of close family members who were once apart of the mafia. Along the way, the ladies deal with personal struggles as they are adjusting to their new reality. Season six will premiere on January 13th, 2016.


Zoe Ever After - Our girl Brandy has been making her mark in the acting industry for years, and now she's back--this time with a new BET sitcom! I know you all remember her from shows like Moesha or her earlier days in Thea. In every role she plays, she always delivers a message and makes it so believable. Zoe Ever After is a new sitcom coming to BET. The show focuses on Zoe Moon (Brandy Norwood) and her life as a recent divorcee who owns a cosmetics company. Zoe Ever After will make its debut on January 5th, 2016.
