ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Russell Wilson
Every athlete strives to be great, but in the world of professional sports, it takes a combination of mental and physical strength, hard work, dedication, and God-given talent to be a cut above the rest. Whether it's on the the turf, on the hardwood, on the diamond, or in the ring, some players have what it takes to stand out and be the best of the best. They never cease to amaze us as they put it all on the line for the sake of the game, so it's only right that we recognize who these star athletes are and give credit where it's due.
Athlete of the Week: Russell Wilson (Seattle Seahawks Quarterback)
In case any of you were doubting Russell Wilson and the Seahawks, they're back...and with a vengeance! While the Seahawks may have had a slow start to their season, the team has come together in the second half of the season with Wilson at the helm. The Seahawks are progressively getting better each week, and have won five of their past six games while looking very much like a guaranteed playoff contender. With big time offensive players like Marshawn Lynch and Jimmy Graham out, and a Legion of Boom that hasn't been "booming" as much lately, the fate of these past few games has very much been in the hands of their fourth-year quarterback. And over these last weeks, Wilson has delivered. This past Sunday, Wilson threw for three touchdowns and 274 yards in a total domination of the Minnesota Vikings, and he also rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown himself. In what was undoubtedly one of his best games this season, Wilson was relentless towards the Vikings defense, passing with incredible accuracy in the pocket and escaping defenders with ease out of the pocket. Over just the past three games, Wilson has thrown for 11 touchdowns and rushed for 1 touchdown with 0 interceptions, encouraging talks that the 27-year-old star is playing the best football of his life right now. If Wilson keeps playing at this level and the offense continues to improve week after week like it has been, chances are better than good that we'll be seeing the Seahawks once again in February.
So what was that about the Ciara curse?
