This Is the Single Largest Hotel Suite in All of Italy

The sprawling new Katara Suite atop the Excelsior Hotel Gallia, a Luxury Collection Hotel, is an oasis from the bustling city of Milan. With more than 10,700 square feet of living space, it is the largest presidential suite in all of Italy. Guests enjoy two private outdoor terraces and sweeping views of the city’s historic Central Station. The biggest attraction, though, in the grand Studio Marco Piva–designed space is the arresting private spa with an enormous hot tub positioned beneath the building’s historic tiled cupola. Designed for the ultimate rest and relaxation, the spa further beckons with a Turkish bath, a solarium, and a sauna.

The outdoor space offers even more respite from the city with its lush greenery, Fendi Casa lounge chairs, barbecue, and dining table. In a nod to the hotel’s owner—Katara Hospitality, the Qatar-based global luxury hotel group—there is a tabletop football game outside populated by the Italian and Qatari national teams for friendly matches.

The four-bedroom suite is fitted with custom-designed furnishings and lighting that celebrate the best of Italian design: Murano chandeliers, B&B Italia leather furniture, a Sciabola desk designed by Luigi Caccia Dominioni for Azucena, Fendi sofas, Febo armchairs by Maxalto, and elaborate light fixtures by Altreforme and De Majo. A night’s stay in the suite starts at about $21,500.
