Villa OVD 919 by Saota, a spectacular villa

The architecture firm SAOTA has completed a surprising new project: a villa named OVD 919. Let us guide you through the wonders of this impressive space.

The original objective of the architectures at the firm SAOTA was to create a spectacular villa. They not only met this challenge but went above and beyond in completing the project, dubbed OVD 919.

Perched atop a cliff, this luxurious residence dominates the horizon. In the immediate surrounding environment, the peaks of the Lion’s Head and Twelve Apostle mountain ridges blend into an endless view of Robben Island at Camps Bay.

With a magical, 360° panoramic view, this villa was made to celebrate daily life. Between its contemporary lines, surprising volumes and luxury decoration, this building has the power to surprise, provoke and inspire.

Surprising …

In an environment as sumptuous as the villa itself, OVD 919 is already perfectly positioned to provide daily surprises. Strategically placed, it captures light at every moment of the day.

Despite sitting on the peak of a cliff, the villa isn’t imposing. The two floors above ground, the use of natural materials and colors and the abundance of glass surfaces all contribute to the perfect integration of this majestic residence that, while not imposing, remains monumental.

Monumental because it has no fewer than eight suites with bathrooms, vast living rooms, open kitchens and, above all, numerous exterior “lounges” that give a beautiful backdrop for gatherings of family and friends in both summer and winter. Constructed on a terrain of 30,990 feet squared (2879 meters squared), this residence of 10,537 feet squared (979 meters squared) was intelligently designed, infusing the environment with a certain free spirited style all while taking into account the building’s integration with nature.

Provoking

Strolling down the driveway that leads to the garage, you come across a wall covered in vegetation. Surprise: the garden surrounding the residence continues up vertical spaces to improve isolation and integration.

This isn’t a simple low wall but a veritable hanging garden. Upon entering the garage, a new world opens to greet you. Light spills profusely into the room thanks to sheets of glass on the ceiling. A vast wall fresco depicting a contemporary design reminiscent of street art decorates the space where the cars are parked.

The ultra lighted elevator bathes in that same light. We enter in the living spaces. The polished concrete walls contrast with the beams that support the ceiling. The contrast is striking and the added blend of textures makes the space even more interessting.

Inspiring

This designer’s villa inspires serenity at every moment. Sometimes the spaces open to the exterior, sometimes they’re intimate. The “night” space is a veritable cocoon where intimacy is preserved while maintaining visibility of the outside world. The ceiling height varies, allowing for many diverse worlds in one monumental residence.

The ensemble is intelligently designed at every turn, culminating in a villa both luxurious and practical for every day life. This building, conceived by SAOTA, was decorated by Studio Parkington Design Consult. However the décor furniture is by the following designers Ken Leiman Furniture, B&B Italia, Minotti, Serge Mouille, Warren Pletner for Knoll, Cassina, Tokujin Yoshioka and Pavlo Lenti.
