Derrick Rose Traded To The New York Knicks

It's officially the end of an era in the Windy City. The Chicago Bulls have traded Chicago native and former NBA MVP Derrick Rose to the New York Knicks. Rose had one year left on his contract with the team.

Rose's trade will also feature the Knicks receiving Justin Holiday. Knicks Robin Lopez, Jose Calderon and Jerian Grant will go to the Bulls.

The move by the Bulls signifies a forward process of rebuilding for the team, who hired new Head Coach Fred Hoiberg one year ago. Though rumors and possible trades involving Jimmy Butler are still circulating, Rose's trade likely means that the Bulls are willing to make the right moves to keep the budding star around.

Though Rose's final years with the Bulls were plagued by reoccurring injuries, the Bulls-Rose era began as one for the books. Rose was the franchise's number one pick in 2008. The then 22-year-old became the youngest ever MVP in 2011, before leading the Bulls to the Eastern Conference Finals. The 27-year-old's Chicago tenure will end with 3 All-Star appearances, Rookie of the year, and League MVP.
