Pusha T Shares The Email Exchange That Led To Jay Z's "Drug Dealers Anonymous" Verse
Jay Z has dropped at least three guest verses in the last couple of months. Is it safe to say he's cooking up something of his own? Jay's latest collaboration, Pusha T's "Drug Dealers Anonymous," has caused a huge social media frenzy, mainly because of the use of a soundbite by Tomi Lahren, host of a web series on conservative news site, The Blaze. In the clip that was sampled on Pusha T's song, Lahren is heard saying "Your husband was drug dealer. For 14 years he sold crack cocaine," referring to Jay Z.
Now, Genius.com got Pusha T to break down how Jay's controversial verse happened. According to Pusha, it went a little something like this (paraphrasing):
From: Pusha T
To: Jay Z
Subject: Drug Dealers Anonymous
Attachment: 1
The news reporter that called you a 14-year drug dealer, this was the inspiration behind it. Here’s my verse. I left some extra beat for you. Let me know what you think either way.

WTF? Why you taking me to a dark place? Now I’m going to grow my hair out to be on this track with you…
From: Pusha T
To: Jay Z
Subject: Re: Drug Dealers Anonymous
Man, there’s nothing wrong with telling ghost stories. We need them. We love them. We love these things.
After a break in the communication, during which Jay likely began crafting his verse, he hit Pusha back.

To: Pusha T
Subject: Re: Drug Dealers Anonymous
Oh this is going to be bad. Oh this is going to be real, real bad. I’ll just blame it all on you.

Ok, that’s fine.
Jay takes the night to finish his verse and responds the next morning.

To: Pusha T

This is bad bad. This is like a lot of bad. This is like 48-bars bad.

To: Jay Z

It’s your world.
It was then that Shawn Corey Carter gave us these bars,
Federico Fellini in the flesh
Sergio Tacchini inside his mesh
B**** I been brackin’ since the ‘80s
Google me baby, you crazy
’89 in London pull the Benz up
Type it in, Google’s your friend bruh
14-year drug dealer and still counting
Who deserves the medal of freedom is my accountant
He been hula hooping through loop holes, working around s***
IRS should’ve had the townhouses surrounded
The entire verse is a friendly reminder that YES, Jay did what he did, he owns up to that. However, he's filthy rich and doesn't have to do it anymore. You mad?
"Invest in the brand!"
