Jay Z Has Responded to Lemonade With a Rap Verse
Ask and you shall receive … on Tidal. After all the hoopla surrounding Lemonade and Beyoncé and Jay Z's relationship, the latter has finally responded in song form. Well, it's more of a rap, and it's not even on his song. On Tuesday, Fat Joe released the remix for his hit "All the Way Up," with Jay joining Remy Ma, InfaRed, and French Montana's verses. Jay's reference to Lemonade is brief and will still leave you with a million questions (or maybe just one), but it's great and to-the-point:
"You know you made it when the fact / Your marriage made it is worth millions / Lemonade is a popular drink and it still is."
Jay also squeezes in mentions of his 21 Grammys, Blue Ivy, Tupac, and Prince:
"Prince left his masters where they are safe and sound / We never gonna let the elevator take him down."
To get an idea of how big a deal this is, Fat Joe says he "turned down some really really really big names" for the remix. "Like, the biggest guys on Earth but was just like, yo, I wanna keep it New York," he recently told Billboard.
The release comes days after Page Six reported that Bey and Jay had plans to release an album they secretly recorded together on Tidal as a response to the Lemonade drama.
Listen to the remix on Tidal and maybe also keep your fingers crossed for your local radio station.
