NEW SENNHEISER ORPHEUS HEADPHONES TO COST $55,000
Headphones aren’t always the pick when you have to make a luxury technology purchase. While some signature-line products are always a preference, German manufacturer has raised the stakes with the introduction of a new addition to the Orpheus line of headphones. These sound pieces are expected to go on sale at a rate of $55,000.

The line has been around for over two decades. The company promises ‘state of the art technology’ in the headphones, developed to ‘transform the music from something you listen to, into something you live in’. That’s a very experiential approach towards listening to music. The headphones are said to operate at a range from 8 Hz to 100 kHz, which means that you could explore a wide spectrum of sounds from low basses to thin, crisp treble.
Another property of the headphones is that they are electrostatic. The audio signal voltages cause a thin film between the pair of metal plates that move back and forth, emitting sound as an output. The advantage of this film being very thin is that it doesn’t produce its own sound, thus contributing to better clarity of sound. While sound specifications rule high, the build is no less. The headset has a number of components that are built using silver, platinum and Italian Carrara marble.
So, is the price justified yet?
