Luxury Luggage Made From Upcycled Airplane Fabric

Frequent flyers can get rather attached to certain airport and aircraft aesthetics — when you’re moving through a transitional space, it can be comforting to see the same old airport lounge carpet in its familiar shades and patterns. It can evoke memories of good trips, which is perhaps why some sentimental sorts have started conservation projects for old airplane parts and fabric. PLANE, a British company founded by brothers Ben and Harry Tucker, has taken advantage of this nostalgic travel trend and are producing luxury luggage from repurposed aircraft seating fabric.

PLANE refers to their products as “luxury waste.” Each item has a unique back story and personality, each scrap of fabric representing countless trips to exotic locales. The luggage options include backpacks, weekend bags, messenger bags, phone sleeves, and laptop sleeves. All of the pieces come with a leather stamp that details important information such as how far the fabric had flown, how high it went, and what speeds it reached.

PLANE has launched a kickstarter campaign which has already surpassed its monetary goals. Nevertheless, there are still a number of limited packages left for the interested buyer, including early bird offers on messenger bags and rucksacks. Items range in price from approximately $40 to $360 USD.
