Porche designed mPiano will tune in the future of music
A Steinway might cringe, but this could well be the face of the future for pianos. Here is a piano that will make music just like the Steinway, only this will have lesser keys and look like a piece of furniture from the Robot’s family. mPiano is a touch-sensitive keyboard concept by Austria-based Alpha Piano. The ‘m’ stands for mechatronic, which is an electronic actuator that is placed underneath each of the 88 keys to allow the user to adjust the resistance and pitch of each key using an iPad app. Also, the touch-sensitive feature allows you to ‘tweak vibrato and volume’ as easily as sliding on an individual key. This idea is in collaboration with Porche Design Studio in Austria.
The piano is called Actor, is controlled by iOS user interface, and controlled via the iPad that is set on top the instrument. The concept is set to be a reality soon.
