"BRAND OF THE WEEK" - Cara Scott @plusmodelcara
Toccara "Cara" Scott was born in Benton Harbor, Michigan. At the age of 10 her parents decided to let her start voice lessons/training to be an opera singer. After graduating from high school, Cara went on to pursue her opera career by studying with Meredith Woodend, who has sung with San Francisco’s Merola Opera, Santa Fe Opera and Orlando Opera, to name a few. Cara is currently studying with Edward Washington, who is the Musical Director of the Negro Spiritual Foundation.
Cara Scott has competed in various competitions: First place‐ NATS District competition; Top 6 (Semi‐finalist)‐ NATS Tri‐state (Florida, Georgia and Alabama); Honorable Mention‐ Winter Symposium at North Florida University. In addition, she also directed and starred in, what the Orlando Sentinel described as “well staged and cartoonish”, Urinetown at the Orlando Fringe Festival. She was in the original cast of Psychic Follies staring as Arianna De Sanctus. Cara has also sung concert/scenes as Serena in Porgy and Bess and the Countess in Le Nozze de Figaro (The Marriage Of Figaro). She has also volunteered at the Orlando Youth Theatre and Valencia Community College by helping teens with stage performance and opera/musical theatre.
By her junior year of college, before traveling to Germany for a summer training program at the Music Theater Bavaria with Director Richard Owens, she realized that it was time for break from the classical/opera music world. It was during that break that Cara decided to take a chance and submit photos to a model search called Texas 10's Models. She won second place. That launched her runway career. She has walked for such designers as 2Fierce Diva (CEO La'Sheka Drew) in the Essence Festival in New Orleans, Louisiana and Sassi Rebel (CEO Celeste Harvey) in Orlando, Fl. Most recently, she walked in For Curvy Girls Inc. (CEO Kimberly Watkins) with Jucy Jucy Boutique and other designers, The International Fuller Woman Expo in Detroit Michigan with such designers as Igigi (Designer Yuliya Raquel), Philine (Designer Ava Jones), and BGU (Big Girls United - Designers Tasha Hill and Jeannie Ferguson) and LS1426 INC. (CEO/Founder Linda Scott) Presents 1426 Fashion Week featuring designs by Robert E. Knight, Mad Chic Boutique, Wendy Striggels with Big Girls Inc Designs and many more.
Cara has won many competitions - Plus Size VIPs May Model of the Month and Glamorous Curves June Model of the Month. She has also been featured in Masque Make-up cosmetic ads. Cara has graced the cover and was featured in Curvz magazine. She also was a featured plus size model in the November issue of DStripped magazine, www.bigbeautifulfashions.com
in Australia; Examiner.com (Farrah Estella) in Tampa F and most recently she has the opportunity of having an editorial in the October 2012 issue Skorch Magazine. She has worked with many photographers, most recently with Akram Soliman , Nigel Elliot of Mind Vivid Photography and Michelle Alexander, whose work has been published in the plus model magazine Skorch and many more. Cara has had the opportunity to work with celebrity makeup artist Allison La Cour, the founder of LaCour Beaute'.
Cara Scott has recently moved to New York City to take her singing and modeling to the next level and continues to break barriers in the Plus Modeling Industry as a petite plus and hopes to inspire others not feel pressured to fit into the cookie-cutter image that the media portrays.
