The Beach House at The Legian Bali

Bali has always been one of my favorite travel destinations. It ranks high thanks to its gorgeous beaches, nightlife, and sunsets that look like God painted the sky with the brightest of all colors. And to show their appreciation to Him, there are scores of postcard-worthy temples; many perched on top of an outcrop amidst constantly crashing waves and sunset backdrops.

If you want a mix of everything, do stay in Legian as it occupies one of the best stretches of Seminyak beach. Not too crowded yet not too far away from all the buzz. This upscale location features some of the best hotels and we scoured the place on what makes the cut as our suite of the week. One look at the Legian Bali (a member of the Leading Hotels of the World) with its zen-like interiors and the relaxed vibe was enough to make us fall in love with the place and feature its Beach House as our suite of the week.

Measuring an impressive 8611 sq. ft. The Beach House promises you the ultimate in privacy and space. It features a three-bedroom villa amidst a walled tropical garden fronting a tranquil stretch of Seminyak Beach with breathtaking ocean views. While the rest of the hotel features traditional Balinese design with a mix of modern architecture, The Beach House blends harmoniously yet manages to maintain its own identity. There’s an open living and dining room, a King sized bedroom with breathtaking panoramic ocean views and an en-suite bathroom with a dreamy terrazzo bathtub. There’s also a queen bed and twin bedded extra bedrooms that can accommodate more guests. All the rooms are furnished in warm wood work that exudes a sense of warmth and coziness. The thatched roof and lush gardens keep the place cool and breezy.

There’s a stunning 16-metre infinity pool encompassed by timber sunbathing decks and an open seaside bale pavilion. A spot at the edge of the pool, taking in endless ocean views flanked by the calm of zen-like gardens spells pure bliss, doesn’t it? This magical setting is the perfect spot to watch God paint His blue canvas to a glorious golden color as the sun sets on the horizon.

The Beach House accommodates up to six adults and also makes for a stunning venue for celebrations of any kind. It seats up to 60 guests among its indoor and outdoor spaces. There’s also a full-service private kitchen where the Chefs at Legian will prepare a lavish feast for you.

We recommend you skip this next part if you want to stay away from connecting with the world. A place like this calls for switching off all your gadgets and instead experience the peace this place has to offer. However, if you do need to, there’s a LED TV, Blu-Ray DVD player, a Bose lifestyle entertainment system, WiFi, and two iPod units with a docking station. Take our advice though and just switch off.

Dining options are aplenty and postcard-worthy Indian Ocean panoramas accompany every meal at The Legian Bali. Feast on contemporary French and classic South East Asian cuisine at The Restaurant, to small bites by the seashore at The Pool Bar, or to an epic seafood indulgence every Friday evening at The Ocean Bar.

We also suggest you take your already relaxed state to another level by indulging in a blissful Balinese massage at The Spa. They have specially designed Balinese Royal Ritual packages that combine massage, traditional scrub or a choice of refreshing facial or foot reflexology. Or cool off or challenge yourself in one of their three-tiered swimming pools.

Cost: USD 3500

Why should you splurge on it?
If I say it is the huge space and privacy it offers that makes this splurge-worthy, I would be lying. This is a one of a kind castle in the sand blessed with luxurious panoramic ocean and garden views from anywhere inside the suite. If it were me, I would splurge for the view alone because this to me is – ‘Priceless.’
