Chanel X Willow Smith Eyewear Campaign Fall/Winter 16/17



Willow Smith is doing more than just whipping her hair back and forth — personally that gave us a headache so we are relieved. The youngest offspring of Jada and Will Smith is now the star of Chanel’s new Fall-Winter 2016/17 eyewear campaign. The 16-year-old is a multi talented artist who is not shy in front of the camera as proven by the black and white campaign shots.



Joining other muses in the house of Chanel, such as Lily-Rose Depp, Smith is one star to watch closely in this generation. Much like Rihanna — Chanel’s previous eyewear collaborator — Smith’s energy is captured in a series of shots. Attracted by her poise and charm, Karl Lagerfeld appointed Smith in her new role that is a little bit if a change from her usual self. Against a minimalist backdrop and jewels from Chanel’s fall-winter 2016/17 Ready-to-wear collection she showcases the new eyewear collection while striking various poses.



The campaign is split into three themes: Vintage, Urban Chic and Chanel Coco Chain. With the Vintage theme, the sunglasses are designs that will be a hit with those wishing to channel their own Jackie O. The frameless creations are a modern take on the style that is now timeless while the light colours help to protect the gaze.



Urban Chic, is the opposite of the classic vintage theme. The butterfly and pantos shaped frames feature mirrored lenses that hide your gaze. The acetate frame sees scrolls of black ink within it while showcasing a baroque matt metal double C. The final theme, Chanel Coco Chain, sees the famous leather metal chain interlaced with leather, play a major role. Available in both at eye and round frames, the designs have a refreshing hint thanks to the metal at the eyebrow level and over the nose. The Chanel signature blends seamlessly into the chain, almost camouflaging it.
