Luxury Danish brand Bang & Olufsen has released five unique BeoSound 1 speakers in collaboration with Sotheby’s, which the two companies are calling a celebration of the art of design. The speakers will be auctioned off exclusively through Sotheby’s; the auction preview is already live with bidding opening July 5 at 12:00 PM EDTT. Each BeoSound 1 speaker is engraved “1/1” signifying its uniqueness and has been individually anodized and dyed at B&O’s world-leading aluminum factory in Denmark. Originally produced as one-offs for a trade show in 2016, B&O will never release the speakers in these five exclusive colors of grey, tan, orange, maroon, and pink. This special edition BeoSound 1 was produced as part of a series of color trials in August 2016.
The BeoSound 1 wireless speaker system boast a beautiful conical-shaped body, created by award-winning industrial designer Torsten Valeur, that provides exceptional 360-degree sound dispersion. Sotheby’s estimates the final auction price of these one-of-a-kind BeoSound 1 speakers somewhere between $3,000 and $5,000. That’s more than double the original price of $1,495.
