Mercedes has finally unveiled the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury concept at the ongoing Beijing Motor Show. The concept finished in cherry red paintjob on the outside is something very different than SUV concepts we usually get to see at motoring expos. The Ultimate Luxury concept combines the body styles of a sedan and a tall-bodied SUV. This helps the car offer the comfort and elegance of a high-end sedan while providing all the benefits on an SUV, including tall ride height and commanding seating position. According to the head of design for all Daimler brands Gorden Wagener, the concept “combines the DNA of an SUV with that of a sedan to produce an ultramodern SUV of three-box design.”
On the inside, the cabin is wrapped in white nappa leather and features rose gold accents. Between the fully adjustable rear seats is an expansive center console that features a compete tea set, including a heated section underneath the pieces for keeping the drinks warm. The front dash is fitted with a pair of 12.3-inch digital displays – one for the instruments and another that works as an infotainment system. The Vision Ultimate Luxury concept is pure electric and features an all-wheel-drive powertrain. The four electric motors churn out a total of 738 horsepower, and the 80kWh battery allows for an estimated range of over 200 miles. The German automaker claims that a fast-charging system would give the car a driving range of around 60 miles in just five minutes of charging time. Although, the Maybach sub-brand will add an SUV to its line up but it’s highly unlikely for it to look anything like the Ultimate Luxury concept.
