Three years ago, Chanel impressed us with their Boyfriend watch (stylised as Boy.Friend), a clean and simple take on a “masculine” watch for women. Since then, the brand has offered numerous iterations of the style from tweed inspired straps to full diamond pave dials, however it’s their newest take on the style that has really caught our eye.

Chanel’s Boyfriend Skeleton watch sports the trademark bold octagon case that distinguishes their Boyfriend watches, but inside is the brand new Calibre 3, the third in-house movement from Chanel. The movement has been in the making for three years and special care was put into its design to ensure that it looks beautiful from every angle. The interlocking circles incorporated into the movement make an interesting visual contrast to the straight lines of the watch case. The manually wound calibre has a 55-hour power reserve and hour and minute functions.

The black coating of ADLC (Amorphous Diamond-Like Carbon) on its plates and bridges gives the design even more depth as it plays off the metallic beige gold details on the chamfers and lower circular plate. A plain gold version of the Chanel Boyfriend Skeleton watch has a recommended price of $40,600 while another edition with a diamond studded bezel is priced at $51,400.
