"4 Ways To Teach Children About Saving Money" by @hobdragon
1. Make Them Work For Their Money
As parents, we want to love on our children, and put smiles on their faces and keep 'em their. But we all know the perils they must face in their adulthood, which we face ourselves. So a wise parent would obviously prepare them and show them first hand what it means to actually earn what you get.
2. Play Monopoly or Cashflow’s Rat Race With Them
Children learn through playing, and playing games. When learning is fun, it catches on quicker. This goes for adults too! ;)
3. "Buy Your Own Things, Kid"
Children learn, early, the separation between adult purchases, and TOYS! (notice the all caps) The excitement from the gratification of senseless entertainment is radically sobered by the responsibility of actually having to purchase it with your own money.
4. Teach Them How To Keep Track Of Every Single Dollar
I know adults who can't stand this...simply because they weren't trained this as a child. Tracking spending helps indicate your strengths and weakness in your discipline; as far as withholding certain purchases and not borrowing money (cardinal sin!). I always say, "managing money means managing your heart". So track your spending and track your character. (YES, IT'S THAT SERIOUS)
