"Churches and Condoms" Yes it is what you think...
So, I had a great epiphany one day. Yes, have the church distribute condoms! Who better? What better community organization reaches a more broad demographic; family, age, race, gender, economic status? What better organization leads the morale and morality of a community?
The best way to solve most problems are from the inside-out. That's how most problems arise to begin with. What are the problems you ask?
Unwanted and teen pregnancy; not to mention single parent, broken homes are plaguing our country. I refuse to get into statistics. Let's be real, we see it everywhere we go, and more in more places than some.
However, most of the people who experience the conditions I mention either 1) go to church, or 2) live in a neighborhood with a church in it. Being that the church organization is a moral leader in a community, so far, they've set the perception of sex in the community in regards to morality. Yet they've done this with so much misguided and abandoned zealousness that it has become a borderline taboo. It's rarely discussed, and if it is, sex is portrayed in the most negative light possible. They've driven the concept of sex so far into the ground that they've become irrelevant, callous, and downright boring.
We must not deny that sex is the greatest PHYSICAL pleasure known to man. And regardless of what churches preach, people are still going to have sex. And if they're having sex, they aught to use condoms, RIGHT?
I think the one thing that would make pastors or church leaders apprehensive to the idea would be the message that it would send to their congregation. As if they're condoning fornication, which is completely against God's Word. However, it's always the thought that counts right. If the intention is conveyed and promulgated effectively and efficiently, I don't think it should be much of a problem. And how much more commendable would that pastor or church leader be if he/she had the courage to make that "leap of faith" and distribute condoms to their congregation.
The church's main agenda is outreach to those in need, right? Especially to the poor. Now, if you're below the poverty line, your quality of life may be quite miserable. And if you're not pacifying your misery with drugs, what's the next best thing? SEX. Yes that's right, this is the main reason poor people always have the most kids while rich people have the least. Let's think about this, a typical pack of condoms cost an average of $10. That is a lot of money when you're below the poverty line. So the idea of going unprotected and having another unwanted child, or worse an STD, isn't as threatening as opposed to not being able to pay to feed your kids and make it to another day. So what may be a good suggestion? Well duuuuuh, the church distributing condoms can reduce this. Who wants kids when you can't afford them? Poor people are always in church looking for solutions to their demise. So who better?
Now I previously mentioned that the church is a moral leader in the community. The church also establish the conception of the family structure; that being a father, who is the head of the household, the mother, who is the backbone, and then the children. Ofcourse, this perception has been increasingly misconstrued with the daunting presence of broken and mixed families. Many times these families arise out of unwanted pregnancies or couples who are overbeared with kids they can't afford. Typically, the children who come out of these homes are criminally inclined, drug addicted, or more likely to perpetuate the cycles of teen and unwanted pregnancies at accelerated rates. But most of these types of families attend church. If the family structure is reestablished children will be more exposed to the possibility of a healthy, loving home by BOTH a man and a woman, which is ultimately conducive to their development into becoming productive citizens in the future.
And this can be achieved on a lowest level by:
1) distributing condoms and reducing teen and unwanted pregnancies.
2) This will encourage couples to see more of each other for who they are, and stay together or split up;
3) which will cultivate healthier relationships into marriages, and healthier households and environments to bring children up in.
For any nation to be great they must be established from the family to a nation, with the family structure being at its core; which is the main reason the Isrealites were so prosperous in the Bible. I dare the church to implement my theory, if they want to be as effective as they say are...
